In this interactive service, we explore a simple Buddhist mantra—Nam Myoho Renge Kyo—through multiple lenses: scientific, humanist, theistic, and more.

Drawing on Unitarian Universalist Principles #3 and #4, the message reframes spirituality as a kind of “shared interface,” where each person brings their own meaning while participating in a common practice.

Blending personal reflection, systems thinking, and a gentle group recitation, this sermon invites us to experience unity without uniformity—and to discover how diversity of belief can deepen, rather than divide, our sense of connection.

A thoughtful, accessible, and experiential exploration of what it means to belong together in a pluralistic spiritual community.

Join us for our annual Water Ceremony, a cherished Unitarian Universalist tradition celebrating the many journeys that bring us together in community.

Our Board Chair, Jesse Wingate, will lead this special service as we combine waters representing our experiences, connections, and hopes for the year ahead.

On this Membership Sunday, we'll examine the many reasons we are drawn to Unitarian Universalism and to this community specifically.  What do we bring to the table to share with our friends and neighbors?  Within the structure of UUism, it is up to us to do the Work.

Guest speaker Willow joined the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Church UU in Charlottesville, looking for a well-rounded religious education for her daughter.  During her time there, she was involved on many levels, wearing many hats.  She is pleased to be part of the UU ESVA as it evolves.

Through Genesis 22, Romans 6, and Matthew 10, we will explore difficult questions of allegiance, trust, sacrifice, and grace.

These texts confront us with profound invitations to expand our viewpoint: through Abraham and Isaac’s journey, Paul’s emerging theological understanding, and Jesus’ challenging teachings about the cost of discipleship. Together, they ask us to consider what or who claims our loyalty, and what it means to follow faithfully when the path is difficult.
